Behind The Design: Olive's Nursery
All images are by The Lauren Style Photography.
This week’s blog post features one of our most asked about client projects: Baby Olive’s Nursery! Tara, Olive’s mama, is one of my good friends and I had initially helped her with the design of her hair salon, Hainsworth & Company. When she came to me to design her first baby’s nursery, I was so honored and very excited to create a relaxing and beautiful space where they would soon spend a lot of time in!
Tara is a business owner and she was very busy at the time with work, so she really gave our team free reign on the design of her nursery. We ended up surprising her once it was all finished. Head to our Instagram stories to see the reveal and her reaction!
Client Q&A with Tara Hainsworth
Introduce yourself - who are you, where are you from, and what’s your story?
My name is Tara Hainsworth, I am originally from Utah but my husband and I moved to Arizona in 2009. We fell in love with Arizona and have planted our roots here. We opened a small business and salon called Hainsworth & Company and moved to Gilbert at the same time. When we started making plans for our business we actually met Lexi!
Tell us a little bit about your project.
We hired Lexi to design our first baby’s nursery! We were having a girl and knew we would be spending a lot of time in her nursery, so I wanted to have a professional like Lexi create a beautiful space that was still girly, but also a somewhere that my husband, Eric and I would enjoy being in as well.
Why did you choose LGD?
I discovered Lexi from Instagram and fell in love with her work! I hired her for my salon Hainsworth & Company instantly. At our first meeting, I arrived so nervous because I had never worked with an interior designer before! She was so kind and loving and was so excited about the project. All of her ideas even in that first meeting were pure gold! The design and inspiration boards that were sent over honestly solidified my trust in her and the LGD team. Every step of the way they were there giving me their professional opinion and I remember so clearly she would not back down from even finding me the exact chair that I kept going on and on about. Haha, she definitely has your dream vision as her priority.
Luckily, our relationship from working on the Hainsworth & Company Salon together allowed us to form an amazing friendship and Lexi even became a client of mine. It’s been so easy to support each other and I am so very grateful for her friendship.
What were your expectations going into the project? What were your wants, needs, and goals for the space?
When I got pregnant, one of the first things I did was ask Lexi if she could help me with Olive’s nursery! At that time in my life I truly have never been busier with work! Lexi could see that I was overwhelmed and exhausted so she took over the nursery so I didn’t have to worry, and she turned it into a surprise for me!
Share a little bit about what the design process was like.
I was a part of some of the furniture choices like the crib, dresser and rocking chair. But other than that, Lexi had full reign. I trust her with any space so it was a huge relief for me at the time since I was so busy with work. We didn’t have a very big budget either but Lexi made sure to keep everything in a comfortable price range for us. She was very respectful of keeping our budget in mind, which was so comforting. I also don’t feel that our budget affected my vision in any way either, which just proves that Lexi is so talented.
I don’t think I could explain how big of a help it was to have a Lexi take complete control of my first baby’s nursery! This was a blessing from the heavens above in more ways than one for sure. I was so overwhelmed in my life and she gave me such a special gift: the room that my daughter is going to grow up in and that we get to make memories in together. I was so excited!
The day I got to walk into that room for the FIRST time was the day Lexi finished installing it! My husband had helped put some of the things together with her and that made it even more special. I was in shock as to how every detail had meaning behind it. The wildflower photos on the wall, the olive tree, the elephant details; those were all things of very special meaning to me. She listens and pays attention to you. There is intention behind every design decision she makes. This room is my absolute favorite room in our house!
What advice would you give to those who are considering hiring an interior designer?
If you are looking for an interior designer, I recommend finding someone who you work well with and enjoy being around. This person will create a space where comfort, love and care will be felt there, because they care for you as their client. Find someone who will pay attention to details in your conversations and then personalize them in the room. And most of all, if you are looking to create a space where many memorable and happy memories can be made there then, I would highly recommend working with Lexi and the LGD team. The experience is one I never expected. This project was so much more than just the furniture and paint colors. Working with the LGD team allowed me to create a space in OUR home. Thank you so much Lexi and your beautiful, amazing LGD team! Supporting you and your business is one of the easiest decisions I could ever make!
