Fall Front Porch Decor: the Basics

Fall is officially here in Arizona! It has been freezing cold in the mornings! (And by freezing we mean in the 50’s ha!) It’s really starting to feel like the holidays are here, which means it’s the busy season! Our weeks will be filled with outdoor activities, shopping (online), family time, and of course, lots of work for our amazing clients! We recently did a fall-inspired photoshoot to give you some ideas for super accessible fall decor for your front porch. We love to keep things clean and simple. Most items can be found at your local grocery stores!  ***This front porch belongs to @thegreenfieldaz our vacation rental in Gilbert, AZ. Leaving extra touches for the guests is one of our very favorite things to do, and this absolutely includes providing a seasonally decorated home. We can’t wait to share our fall porch-scape with you below!

If you want to bring a touch of LGD decor to your home, an easy place to start is the front porch. Porches and walkways are like the face of your house. It’s the first thing people see and it can easily be one of the most memorable parts of your home. It’s such a fun place to add seasonal decor, welcome your guests, and add a sweet touch for everyone walking into your home.

Pumpkins

Whether you choose to keep things simple or to go all out - you can’t forget to include pumpkins! If your struggling with creating the perfect fall front porch consider broadening your pumpkin purchasing to include Cinderella pumpkins. Unlike the classic Halloween carving pumpkins, which are perfectly round and bright orange, Cinderella pumpkins are shorter and come in more muted tones. They come in a variety of colors from creamy whites to soft sage greens and you know we’re suckers for a good earth tone. We love layering a mixture of Cinderella pumpkins, classic pumpkins, gourds, and seasonal florals on the front porch. To give your porch decor more interest, try varying the heights of your pumpkin and floral arrangement. Bonus - cinderella pumpkins stack well! Cinderella pumpkins can be found at most pumpkin patches and if you’re near a Trader Joe’s, look there first. They have a great seasonal supply!

Fall Flowers

To pull out all the stops without banking the bank, major on the mums. This classic fall flower comes in a variety of fall colors, but the moody wine colored ones are an LGD favorite. If you struggle with keeping plants alive (hi, guilty) then mums are for you. This hearty fall flower is inexpensive, readily available, and is a great autumn statement on either side of your front door.

Neutral Colors

A neutral color palette never goes out of style because it reflects the natural tones of the environment around us. When choosing your decor, think about the textures and colors of outdoor elements, and how they can be translated into your seasonal home decor.  While it’s fun to style your porch, we are all about creating a look that lasts all season, not just for one holiday. The simple combination of different types of pumpkins and seasonal florals will take you from football kickoff in September all the way to Thanksgiving.

We hope this post has given you some direction on how to decorate your front porch for the fall season!  Which of these tips will you use when decorating your entryway area? Head over to @lexigracedesign on Instagram to see more of our fall inspo!
